Tough day -- my mom died today
by cruzanheart inpoor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.
the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.
last weekend she actually looked a little better.

by DazedAndConfused indoes anyone have tivo?
i am considering getting it but i am unsure about how it works.
i understand how the remote works, that you get a box,etc.

I got Tivo a few months ago and I love it.
To answer one of your questions, yes, you can delete a program you have recorded after you watch it. After the program is over, a screen should pop up and ask you if you want to delete or save the program.
I'm not sure what you mean by the hour thing you mentioned. I just use the guide button on the remote and choose the names of the programs I wish to record.
You can also record by time. Setting the timer for what time you wish to start recording and for how long you wish to record for. Perhaps this is the hour you referred to?

Mother in law told off for speaking to her daughter
by chuckyy inmy wife and i disassociated 3 months ago and my wifes mother is still a jw....but.....she still sees us regularly.
today, a 'clipboard' elder went down to see her.
he has been her book study overseer for a year and has never once gone to see her even though her husband is dying.

What's the worst Witness meeting of the week?

the little introduction and then the preaching after it.
when i went, i thought the most useless meeting was that kingdom ministry meeting.

In some way's the Afternoon public talk was worse. Ours was at 1:00. Add the Watchtower Study to that and the meeting ended at 3. By the time we got home, we really couldn't do nothing till at night. So, the whole day is shot.

Going to my first meeting this morning
by Bug inhi there i'm new here, my name is fiona i am not yet a jw and have not started to study yet.
i am very interested in doing so but since i am still new to all this i thought i should attend some meetings first.
i am going to my first one today at the kelvin hall in glasgow, i am quite nervous as i do not know what to expect but also excited at the same time since it could be the beginning of a huge change in my life.

Welcome to the forum. If you are planning on having a Bible Study with one of JW's, please remember to keep an open mind and research, research, research ALL of their teachings. Do not use ONLY their publications. Use whatever resourses you have available. You obviously already have internet access. That is one powerful tool. Be careful of what THEY tell you that you can and cannot use for your research.
